Message Re: [Only topic] 5.03 Gen-C
First of all, Thx for the work in the Gen.
i have some problems, i installed the 5.03 gen-c, in the Software System it Appears 5.03 Gen-C (Full)
However i cant run the New games, i use the ChickHEN method to Hack my PSP, I can run other games, i have tried with Yu-gi-oh Tag Force 4 and the Demos for MGS Peace Walker, in the Yugioh game the Screen turn Dark and i can only see the PSP Logo with the Demo for MGS it tell me that i require to Upgrade the System to a 5.50 or Superior to RUN it.
Can Somebody help Me?

Rayan-Do, if you install GEN over CFWe installation it will actually replace it.
If you want to go through the say "clean" process, then you should uninstall the CFWe first and then install GEN. But it should work without the CFWe uninstallation as well.
Now you may perhaps try what dimy93 suggests - uninstall GEN then install it again, but it will probably lead to the same results.

Try all what JunSora suggests here:
http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... 55&prev=_t

or look for tool called NP Decryptor which should be able to decrypt those demos

acctualy it turns out that if U uninstall form C it will uninstall CFWE too.
Thats why I told him.And it's not good to make "not clean" installasion.
Just the things messed up.

After i unistall with Select i have the 5.03 ChickHEN R2
Then i Install GEN C with X
Ok, now i have installed 5.03 GEN-C(full)
I do all the JunSora thing and the Peace Walker demo, told me that is Impossible to run the game, well at least it doesnt tell me that i need to upgrade.
Now trying with the Tag Force it happens the same as always, the Screen is black and i can only see the PSP logo.
Well....now i dont know what to do...

dimy93: Who knows.. :) I know about people who successfully switched between CFWe and GEN just by installing one over another one - and they did it several times without any problem. But I myself always uninstalled the first one prior to installation of another.

It's mostly about writing (and then removing) few modules to flash0, I think most of these files have identical names in both cases so they aill be just overwritten, and if there are some unique to GEN or CFWe installations, these will not be used by the other installation. I didn't perform any thorough comparison so this is just an estimation based on what I've recall to see at flash0 in both cases, but it won't be very far from true.

Rayan-Do: ok, give it a try with NP Decryptor:

I don't have that Yu-gi-oh Tag Force 4 one to which you refer so I can't try it, but I was succesfull with testing Avatar where the only thing I had to do was to set the UMD mode to m33 driver if I recall properly.

If it starts (doesn't exit with some "could not be started" error message) and doesn't hang and then crash Your PSP then it's likely just having problem with current UMD mode, some active plugins or whatever and there's still good chance to make it working if you try different settings. You may also try "plain modules" option in the advanced configuration in recovery menu.

But it's quite crazy to "play" with so many settings each time you have troubles to run something so I really hope the GEN devs will manage to get it to work easier way.

Well i'm at least happy that team Gen has acknowledged the issue :)

I don't know if it's been reported yet, but it seems that Hold+ v4.0 doesn't work correctly. :(

PS: It's not a very good idea to fuck around with flash0. Trust me on this one. Every time you flash something (ie. from MHU to GEN and back again) you risk bricking it. I have a Fat PSP and even know someone with the same problem. He, on the other hand, had a modchip for his PSP and bricked it AGAIN whithin a year, maybe a year and a half. I'm the lucky one. I only got to brick it once and now I'm on the "Test M33" feature from Despertar Cementerio and still hoping for a Game Decrypter v5.... But that's besides the point.

The point is you shouldn't flash it too many times (for example, when every new version comes out, then you realize it's not so good, so you flash the previous version for a while, then another update and so on).
